I was really enjoying this book until chapter 13 when what had been a sweet story of two lonely and hurting people slowly developing a relationship suddenly jumped to the gal baring her breast in his law office after the guy put his hand inside her thong. Maybe this author thought cheap sex was needed to liven up the story, but I was disappointed in the character of the characters. I didn't finish reading the book.
I love how all the people care for each other and how family matters to those that live in the town of St denis
I've read the other books in this series and was disappointed with this one. I felt the the main character's man, Jesse, sounded rather immature for his age and job status. It's like his character lacked, and was rather flat for my liking. The book itself was slow. Hoping the future books aren't so bad but this one I could have skipped as it did nothing for me.
I was never a "romance" reader until I discovered Mariah Stewart through several of her FBI based thrillers which always had a love story along side the mystery and danger. I like how Mariah Stewart ties all her books together through interlocking characters. The presence of characters that we've experienced before, makes it feel like we are part of the community and friends of the central characters.
Always love to read a series. Just started this series and will begin start to at the beginning. Love small town romances, small town loves and life. Just what the doctor ordered.
This was a book for pleasure. The characters are lively and each carry a history making the story both happy and sad. The setting could be any small community. Read it and enjoy. Oh to have a cupcake.
I was surprised when this book finally arrived. It came to Oregon from the UK. I did not like the smaller size paperback which is difficult to read and to hold open, plus this book had a torn corner and damaged pages, part of which seemed to have happened in shipping. I really like the books better, but not all the titles in this series are available. Excellent author. Love this series.
The story is FABULOUS. I love this writer and her book. As always, the plot is a delight and keeps one engaged. I am going through some stressful times personally, and an author that writes beautifully about a charming place, with interesting and charming characters who typically end up happy is great for me. The only reason I give this 4 rather than 5 stars is that there are quite a few grammar and style errors. I'm hoping this happened during translation and it is not the quality her editors would normally issue.
